Old Pictures

Sharing some photos of the house when it was built in 1906 and also the family that lived there in 1915.  I know this house has a lot of stories behind it, if only we knew them all.  We were fortunate enough to get these pictures when we closed on the house.  We plan on putting them in the house somewhere.  Here they are -

Forgot to mention that the house we bought is in Fort Morgan,Colorado.  If you have been to our previous retreats in Fort Collins,  it is located about 1 hour east of there.  The house will sleep 15 people and our retreats are being planned for that.

We have a meeting tomorrow morning with the contractor which will give us a better idea of how long it will be until it is ready.  We have ordered carpet and met with the hardwood floor company yesterday.  Last Friday after we closed we had a fun day of picking out dinning room tables and cropping tables.  We have decided to go with gathering tables for the crop room and the dinning room.  Everyone will have plenty of space to crop and eat!

Not to complain about the rain (we are VERY thankful for it) but if it rains anymore, we and the house are going to float away.  We just are not used to rain.  The past years have been very dry and hot.  This summer is starting out to be wet and everything around is green - What a beautiful sight.

Let the Renovations Begin

It has finally happened.  We purchased our Sweetwater House to host weekly (yes weekly) scrapbook retreats.  We closed on the house last Friday (May 25,2007)and now the real work will begin.  The house was built in 1906 and has so much charm. But, along with the charm comes a lot of updating that needs to be done.  We plan on doing a lot of renovations including new flooring, paint, bathrooms, kitchen - you name it we will go over every square inch of this place.  We all are excited about doing the landscaping but I know we will be stuck inside doing the painting!  We plan on having the renovations done by September and hope to host our first retreat mid-September.  We will be adding a page on our website to sign up for the retreat soon.  Here are some pictures of our house last Friday -

We are very excited about this new adventure we are taking.  Please check back often as we will update you about the progress of the house.  We plan on giving you before and after pictures of all the rooms once they have been completed.  We can't believe we actually are to this point - It was one of those houses that you drive by and say, "Someday I would like to have that house" .  Well our someday is now and we look forward to it so...................Let the Renovations Begin!
