Fourth of July was a very quiet relaxing day around the pool with family. The night sky was lit up with beautiful fireworks!! Can't get enough of those.

The best part of the fourth was spending it with my husband. We sat on our front porch and watched the brightly lit sky.
The potholders are just perfect. They would be perfect in my kitchen with my new make life sweet curtains.

I usually love the 4th of July holiday because we're still celebrating my birthday from July 2nd. But this year my husband was called in to work because of power outages. He worked until 10:30 pm, and it certainly didn't feel like a holiday. The kids and I still had a cookout and watched neighbor's fireworks.

The best part of the celebration is the children, their excitement and awe! Don't forget to throw in a little history lesson so they know the reason we celebrate (teachers do this for holidays during the school year, but it's up to us to teach them about Independence Day)

I am new to your blog and I'm having fun going back and reading some of your previous blog days. Thanks for the cute potholder pattern. Me and my sister used to make so many when we were little with the looms and loops of fabric. We had so much fun.
Reading back on your last post, I want to say ThankYou. I'm a mail carrier, have been for 25 years and I really miss delivering all the cards and receiving them too! I love the computer, but it's so much better and exciting to open an invitation that comes in the mail. It's nice to have something in your hands to read. It seems so much more personal. Thanks, Karen M

Best part of 4th of July is spending time with family, swimming, barbequing, playing games and watching fireworks from our backyard :) Thanks for the giveaway!

As a family we plant in the backyard, play in the kiddie pool and visit a local park my husband played at as a child. My kids love that is all about family... and it connects them to what's truly important. Of course we watch the fireworks after a family dinner. And I am so not new to you and your awesome blog - you all ROCK!
Posted by: Carrie G | Wednesday, July 06, 2011 at 08:33 PM
We had no 'real' plans for the day...just loaded up the picnic basket, the kids, and started driving...they chose left or right until we reached a town about an hour or so away.
It was fun not knowing where we were going to end up and we all had a fun afternoon together!
Thanks!
Julie
