Do you remember a few weeks ago when we mentioned something about giving the Make Life scraps away after making all our new quilts for Quilt Market. Well, we have gathered them up -
and now it is time to give them away!!!! You are going to have so much fun with these if you are the lucky winner.
On to what you have to do to win these. It's all about Fall - we have officially been in the fall season for about 1 month and the weather has been crazy here in Colorado. Two weekends ago the high was 20 degrees 1 week later we hit highs in the 80's (just this past weekend) and now we are back to cold wet weather today (as indicated by the droplets of rain/snow mix on the bowl in the picture). So the question is - what is your favorite thing about fall? We will announce the winner next Monday.

Crunchy sound of leaves when I walk through the yard is one of my favorite fall things.

I love it when we can be in a little cottage and have an open fire whilst the leaves are falling. It is so cozy when the rain is lashing out onto the windows and you can sew and be happy inside!

My favorite thing about fall is that I can break out the crock pot and make savory soups and stews. My family protests soup of all kind during warm weather. Once it gets nippy outside, there's nothing they like more! (But only if I have home-made rolls or french bread to go with it!)

making the perfect halloween costume for my little girl and then watching her dance around in it.

I love the changing colour of the leaves, the fresh cool breeze in my face, pumpkin soup. The cool weather makes me want to stitch and bake and knit and oh so much more.

What's not to love about fall, I really look forward to the time change, one whole hour to sleep under a warm quilt.

Cooler nights, apples and pumpkin pie. Football games and quilts on the bed.

I would have to say that my favorite thing about fall is the smell from the drying leaves. Going for a walk on a clear, crisp fall day and your senses are filled with the sweet smell of the changing leaves. There isn't much better than that.

I love how the tree outside my window casts a red glow to the room when the sun shines through the leaves. Also homemade soup when it's blowing and raining outside.

I dont know whether this is closed but if it isnt I hope I am counted. We do not have autumn or a winter just a slight cooling end December! but I like to read/look at images of what you all conjure up for autumn and the cooler season.

I have always liked fall because of the cool nights, fall colors and football. Now I have a new reason-I got my fifth grandson this weekend. He is the only one born in the fall.

Fall is my favorite season so lets start the list: cooler temps, football season, changing of colors, crisp apples, crop harvest, and the emphasis on gratitude.

Can't pick just 1! Fav Fall things: My kids going crazy for Halloween, the ideas and preparations for costumes to them is as much fun as the Trick-or-Treating...getting dark early, the kitty in my lap, mug of hot cider with a bucket load of applique to work on in my basket...Thanksgiving & cooking all corn bread-apple stuffing, mac&cheese, hot rolls w/my 5 daughters-but my son makes the candied sweet potatoes, YUM! Is that enough?

Fall is special to me because my daughter's birthday is October 20th and mine is November 30th. I love the smell of the air in the fall so clean and fresh. Watching the leaves change colors and I do have to say that the trees that are orange are my all time favorite to see.

I love the leaves turning color. I love how the air seems to be a bit cooler, a bit crisper, and finding dew on the landscaping. I love the pumpkins to bake down and then make into tasty treats. I love the smell of Fall and how the boys get excited to tear the garden up so that they have dirt to play in.

I have fallen in love with fall
I have fallen in love with fall
I have felt the cold, and then the heat
I have to admit, Colorado has it all
When it comes to seasons, it can’t be beat
I stared out the window today
Watching the flakes hitting the ground
As my Doberman whines to play
I am here stuck, totally bound
Then I hear an interrupted cry
Coming from the Aspen in my yard
It shakes itself trying to dry
The snow illuminates against the sky
Colorado weather sure has it all
I have fallen in love with fall

That first day when you can wear jeans and a sweatshirt and feel the crispness in the air.

I love the days that are warm....not hot. With warm days and cool nights, we can go outside again and enjoy the beauty. October 25 and the leaves are just now starting to turn and fall. Wonderful!

I love the colors and smells of fall - from beautiful colored leaves, baked chestnuts smell to pumpkins and wood fires. This season also seems to give me more time to spend with creative indoor projects; be it quilting or knitting or re-decorating.

The colour and the smell of fall are my favorite things. The way everything is crisp but not too cold to enjoy a walk through the brillant colours.

I miss my Idaho fall weather! Here in Hawaii it's just not the same. My all time favorite is the crisp cool DRY air. But I am enjoying delicious apples and pumpkin desserts. Thanks!

Fall inspires me to be crafty! I start baking, creating dozens of Christmas gifts, sewing, painting, and the list goes on and on. It's just a whirlwind of fun around our home in the fall!

So many things....the smell and crunch of the leaves, sweaters, apples, baking again now that the weather is cooler (oven doesn't go on much in summer temps.) But the most spectacular of all are the colors.... bright orange pumpkins on front porches with baskets of different shades of mums....the reds of the burning bushes, trees filled with leaves of gold, orange, purple or green. I get ideas for projects when I see the different color combinations!

Fall in New England is perfection. The popping of acorns when you are walking through the trees, the trees that are SO vivid you wonder if they are technicolor straight from the Wizard of Oz and we can't forget jumping in the piles and piles of leaves!
Posted by: Veronica | Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 12:14 PM
The changing colors of the leaves. I get so many ideas and never have time to do them all. Thanks for the chance.

The smell. We lived in Hawaii for three years and every September/October I so missed the smell of fall in the air.

My favorite thing about fall is not having one in Hawaii!!!!!! Last year I was in Maryland in October & Though the leaves on the trees were beautiful, I really thought raking the leaves on the ground was a bit of a thankless task! I'd much rather be sewing!!!

My favorite thing about fall is the changing of colors of the trees and the crisp cool air. Living in California I miss the fall. I was born & raised in Ohio. Maybe I should plan an annual trip back in the fall to get my fix.
Posted by: Beth | Friday, October 23, 2009 at 05:23 PM
Oh goodness, my favorite part about fall is definitely the crisp air and the smell of firewood that always seems to permeate the air as well. I've missed these seasonal pleasures since living in southern California, though! :)

You never know what you're going to get! The weather changes, the colors change, your clothes change & even your attitude can change! I love being cozy in bed with a book. Fall brings many fun holidays and traditions like Halloween and Thanksgiving.
